Learn how to unlock the Raven Cave in The Forge. Complete both Raven quests, earn the Red Cave Key, and access late-game content.
The Raven Cave is one of the locked areas in The Forge's Frostspire Expanse, and it gates access to some of the game's best late-game content. Before you can get in, you need to reach level 70 and make it to Island 3, then work through the Raven questline to earn the Red Cave Key.
Inside, you'll find cultist-like NPCs, spider variants, and the Dragon Head Pickaxe, which is worth the effort to unlock. In this article, we'll walk you through exactly how to unlock the Raven Cave in The Forge, step by step.

Requirements to Unlock Raven Cave
Before you can unlock the cave, you need to reach level 70 and make it to Island 3. You can get there by completing all quests on the second island, especially the Sensei Moro quests.
Once you're on Island 3, you need to complete two Raven quests to earn the Red Cave Key.
Raven Quest 1
Head to the Frostspire Expanse and find the Raven in the northwestern part of the area, past Greedy Cey's stall. Interact with it to start the first quest.
To complete it, you need to:
- Mine 10 Icy Pebbles (one of them needs to drop an Aetherit ore)
- Defeat 5 Crystal Spiders
Note that Aetherit is a relatively rare drop, so you may need to mine more than 10 Icy Pebbles. If you already had Aetherit before starting the quest, you can hand that in instead. Once done, return to the Raven to complete the quest and receive the Raven Helmet recipe.
Raven Quest 2
After completing the first quest, find the Raven again by the stone door located behind the Forge in Frostspire Expanse. Interact with it to start the second quest.
To complete it, you need to:
- Defeat 10 Diamond Spiders
- Defeat 1 Prismarine Spider
- Deliver 1 Snowite ore
The Crystal, Diamond, and Prismarine Spiders can all be found in the Spider Cave. The same area also has Icy Pebbles that drop Aetherit and Snowite ores, so spending time there will cover most of what both quests require.
Return to the Raven once all three objectives are done. You'll receive the Raven Chestplate recipe, and the Raven will hand you the Red Cave Key.

How to Enter the Raven Cave
Once you have the Red Cave Key, head behind the Forging Station in the Frostspire Expanse and approach the stone door. Interact with the lock on the door using the key to unlock it. You now have permanent access to the Raven Cave.
