How to Make Cake in Grow a Garden
Learn how to make cake in Grow a Garden, including every recipe by rarity, how to get the Cooking Kit, and what cake does for NPC birthdays.

TL;DR
To make cake in Grow a Garden, place a Cooking Kit in your garden, add 2 Corn and 2 Strawberry, and press Cook. A basic cake takes just under 6 minutes. Rarer ingredients like Sugar Apple and Bone Blossom push it up to Mythical, Divine, and Prismatic, and the cake you make is what you give to shop NPCs on their birthday for rewards.
Cake is one of the cooking recipes in Grow a Garden, and it's the one dish the game actually asks you for, since it's the food NPCs accept as a birthday gift. When an NPC's birthday comes around, their stall gets decorated, and handing them a cake that day gets you rewards you can't buy anywhere else.
The problem is that most cake guides were written during the Cooking Event in August 2025, when Chris P. Bacon and the shared pot were still in the middle of the map. Both are gone now. All cooking happens at a Cooking Kit you place in your own garden, so if you follow an old guide, you'll end up walking to a pot that doesn't exist anymore.
In this article, we'll explore how to get the Cooking Kit, every cake recipe by rarity, how to cook it step by step, and what to do with your cake once it's ready.

How to Get the Cooking Kit in GAG?

You need a Cooking Kit before you can cook anything. The developers turned the old cooking cauldron into this kit, which is a cosmetic item you place on your own plot. If you already set one up to make ice cream in Grow a Garden, you can skip this part.
The fastest way to get it is through the Common achievements in the Garden Guide. You have to shovel 100 plants, harvest 200 carrots, gift one carrot, sell 500 strawberries, and gift five strawberries. Once all five are done, click Claim Reward and the kit goes straight to your cosmetics inventory. The Rare and Mythical achievements give you extra kits, and you can also buy one from the Cosmetics Shop for 1,000,000 Sheckles.
To place it, open your cosmetics inventory, find the Cooking Kit, and put it anywhere inside your garden.
All Cake Recipes in GAG

Cake uses Corn as the base and a fruit as the filling. The fruit decides the rarity, so swapping Strawberry for something
rarer moves the cake up a tier. These are the recipes that work right now:
| Rarity | Ingredients |
| Common | 2x Corn, 2x Strawberry |
| Common | 1x Corn, 1x Tomato, 2x Blueberry |
| Rare | 2x Corn, 2x Watermelon |
| Rare | 2x Corn, 2x Banana, 1x Watermelon |
| Legendary | 2x Kiwi, 2x Banana |
| Mythical | 2x Corn, 2x Sugar Apple |
| Divine | 1x Corn, 4x Sugar Apple |
| Divine | 1x Corn, 2x Elder Strawberry, 2x Sugar Apple |
| Prismatic | 1x Banana, 4x Bone Blossom |
The quantities have to be exact. One extra or missing item and the pot gives you a different dish instead of cake. You'll also see Prismatic and Transcendent recipes online marked as "craving only," and those were tied to Chris P. Bacon's cravings, so they aren't reliable anymore. If a recipe stops working after an update, check the Grow a Garden Wiki for the current version.

How to Make Cake in GAG Step by Step?

Hold your first ingredient, walk up to your Cooking Kit, and press E to add it. Do the same for every ingredient in the recipe. Each item shows up on the chalkboard next to the pot and adds to the timer, so you can see how long the cake will take before you start.
When everything is in, press the green Cook button. A basic cake takes just under 6 minutes, and rarer or heavier ingredients make the timer longer. When it's done, walk up to the pot and press E to collect your cake. If you don't want to wait, you can pay 39 Robux to skip the timer.
Bigger crops make a bigger cake, so grow your ingredients with sprinklers before you cook them. If you have a Gorilla Chef, equip it while cooking, because it gives you a small chance to duplicate the food. You can find out where to get it in our guide on how to get pets in Grow a Garden.
What Do You Use Cake for in GAG?

Cake is the birthday gift. Each shop NPC has a birthday, and on that day their stall gets a Happy Birthday banner and balloons. Hold your cake, walk up to the NPC, and interact with them to hand it over. There's no special birthday cake recipe, so any cake from the table above works.
The rewards depend on the NPC. Eloise at the Gear Shop gives 3 Level Up Lollipops and a Grandmaster Sprinkler, Sam at the Seed Shop gives Divine and Prismatic seeds, Raphael at the Egg Shop gives a Bug Egg, a Mythical Egg, and a Legendary Egg, and Isaac at the Cosmetics Shop gives cosmetic crates.
You can only give an NPC cake once on their birthday, so make your best cake count. Giving cake on any other day only raises your friendship with that NPC and doesn't unlock the birthday rewards.

Conclusion
Cake is cheap at the bottom and expensive at the top. Get your Cooking Kit through the Common achievements first, make your first cake with Corn and Strawberry, and save your Sugar Apples for the next NPC birthday, since that's the one day a better cake actually pays off.
